Psalm 72:18  Blessed be the LORD  God,  the God  of Israel,  who only  doeth  wondrous things.

Our passage this morning tells us that our God only does wondrous things. The Hebrew word translated wondrous can be translated, marvelous, wonderful, surpassing, extraordinary. But it carries the idea of something beyond one’s power, or humanly difficult to understand. Think about those words for a moment. In other words, the works of our God are indescribable! On one hand they are marvelous and surpassing and extraordinary. Or, simply put wondrous. But many times, these wondrous works of God are difficult to understand. Our finite minds are incapable of grasping the fulness of the wondrous things that God is doing in our lives. At times those wondrous things are the cause of great joy. At other times, those wondrous things are painful. We know that God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Not even close. His thoughts and ways are higher than the heavens, not a mere 5’10” tall like me. Walking by faith must keep this thought regarding God’s wondrous works in mind throughout the day. Why? As we all know, life at times throws us proverbial knuckleballs. Oftentimes, the wondrous works of God seem more like the woeful works of God. It is right then and there that the devil sets the bait on the trap and wants us to “take matters into our own hands.” So do we? Beloved, when we take matters into our own hands, we take them out of God’s hands. Don’t do that today saints. Why? Because He only is doing wondrous things. Blessed be His Name.
