God is mentioned over 30 times in the creation account. He existed before the universe was created. Thus, a very basic principle of life is that man as created by God and for His purposes. It is only in surrendering to God that man finds real meaning and purpose for his or her existence.

Genesis 1.1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Have you had a beginning with God? Is the God that you believe in a concept or alive and more real to you than anything or anyone else? Has The Living God spoken the words, “Let the be life” into your soul my friend?

As the year 2016 begins, New Year’s resolutions are abounding. Diets. Exercise. Stopping unhealthy habits. We resolve to patch up broken relationships. Do better in school. And the list goes on and on. All of them have temporal value, but is this what life is all about?

The Psalmist wrote, For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

The wisest resolution any human being can make is to surrender your life to King Jesus. That is because it is Jesus, not New Year’s resolutions that give life and that more abundantly. May the words “in the beginning, God” become your new year’s and every new day’s resolution. To live is Christ. Blessings, my friends.
