Romans 7.4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
One of the easiest things to do is profess faith in Christ. One can learn enough Scripture to proclaim all the right doctrines of grace and truth. One can be blessed with a great mind that can recall or memorize tons of Scripture. But the bottom line is this. How does your faith effect your tongue?
“If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.” How does your faith affect your relationship with the world? “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”
Those who are born of God are married to Jesus Christ. That does not mean that we will never falter or sin, for there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. What that does mean is that our life is going to progressively reflect a devotion to Christ that is evident in the words we speak and the choices that we make every day. A good tree will bring forth good fruit. Only one type of soil brought forth fruit unto God. The rest were impostors, “make believers” who only endured for a time. Today is a new day. Today we must choose afresh Whom we will serve. We cannot serve two masters.
Be faithful to your Bridegroom Jesus today, beloved. Speak and act in a way that would honor Him and bring Him glory. Resist those fleshly temptations to talk and act in ways that would bring reproach to Him. Be the virtuous woman of Proverbs for the sake of your precious Husband, Jesus Christ.
