Romans 5.10,11 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Paul writes that we joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh, how we need to see that it is through the atonement of Jesus Christ that we find joy in God. Isn’t it a glorious truth that while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through Jesus Christ? Through Christ we were restored to harmony and are recipients of joy. What a glorious gospel. What a glorious God. Throughout Scripture, we read numerous declarations of this joy in God.
1 Samuel 2:1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the LORD, mine horn is exalted in the LORD: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.
May the God of glory grant unto His church a fresh baptism of joy in The Lord Jesus. Reader, do you know this joy in The Lord? Do you have the joy of The Lord? In a world that is filled with depression, discouragement and despair, the church has been given the message of joy in God through Jesus Christ. Rejoice in The Lord always, beloved, and again I say rejoice!
Rejoice!
