Psalm 19.10,11 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.
If heaven had a “product label” for the Word of God, it could be, “Warning, this product is desirable and sweet.” In the fallen world, anything that we are warned about is probably not good for us. Sad to say, but many experiences and pleasures that God calls dangerous or evil, this world calls sweet and desirable. If not turned away from, a constant diet of these things will flat out destroy the person who falls for the bait. But those who heed God’s warnings beforehand are spared from a life of destruction. Reader, do you find God’s Word Word desirable and sweet? Sharper than any two-edged sword and sweeter than a honeycomb.
I was perusing the duty free zone in Frankfurt, and there was on the label of all the tobacco products, two words in big letters, “Smoking kills.” Okay, I’m thinking, that will deter people, right? Wrong! I only mention that to make this point. We have a loving Creator Who has given us His Word as a guide in life. When we desire to know His Word and keep it, we experience it’s sweetness. But when we neglect His Word and suffer the consequences it is as if God says to us, “I warned you.” Beloved, forsake the bitter consequences of making up your own rules in life. Trust The Creator Who made us and “eat” those things that He deems desirable and sweet. Selah
