Isa 50.10 Who among you fears the LORD, listening to the voice of His Servant? Who among you walks in darkness, and has no light? Let him trust in the name of Yahweh; let him lean on his God.(HCSB)
The Christian life is not only a wonderful adventure, it is also a mystery. Both writer and reader alike have experienced things in our Christian lives that we cannot reconcile with the love, goodness or faithfulness of God. Or as one writer said: Our ears are distracted with the noises of the world, harassed by the atheistic whisperings of Satan. Cherished plans have been thwarted, friends on whom we relied have failed us, a professed brother or sister in Christ has betrayed us. We are staggered.
Maybe that is you this morning, beloved. Your heart, mind and emotions are spinning out of control. Like Isaiah says, you fear The Lord. You listen to the voice of His Servant Jesus. And yet, you find yourself in a place of darkness with no light or apparent way out. Of course you pray. But maybe you are so spiritually “tapped out” that you find it even difficult to pray. Here is what The Holy Spirit inspired Isaiah to write to someone like you. Trust in The Name of Yahweh.
To trust in The Name of God means to trust in the revelation of Who He is in Scripture. Yes, life may not be fair for you today. But Scripture declares that our God is good. He is merciful and full of compassion. He is faithful and true. Let those truths sink deep down into your heart this morning. Do not let your circumstances or your emotions form your “statement of faith” regarding the character of God. Many times God ties His love for us with the message of the cross. The apostle John writes, “God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent His One and Only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. Love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” On His cross, Jesus demonstrated the ultimate expression of love for us. That love is proof of His faithfulness as well. Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!
Look to The Lord today and once again embrace His love and faithfulness. Trust Him for every second of grace that you need. Trust Him for every second of strength that you need. Where else or to who else will you turn to? Cast all of your care and despair upon Him, for He cares for you.
