Psalm 84:12 O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
Throughout Psalm 84, the Name of God is repeatedly magnified. He is described as the Lord of hosts, the living God, king, the God of Jacob, the God Who is our sun and shield. Glorious indeed is our God!! It is no wonder that the Psalmist is filled with words of praise, adoration and thanksgiving. It is no wonder that the Psalmist would find refuge when he looked to this God in prayer. It is no wonder that the Psalmist found himself longing to be in that place where the presence of God dwelt.
The Psalmist discovered that it was in the presence of God that he found strength. It was because of his personal experience of satisfaction in the presence of God that the Psalmist declared that one day with Him was better that a thousand in pursuit of the pleasures of the world. It is no wonder that the Psalmist declares himself to be blessed three times in this Psalm.
As we go to The Lord’s table together this morning, we take the bread and drink the cup in remembrance of the fact that this same God is the God of our church family. This same God is the God of your family today, loved ones. This same God became flesh and dwelt amongst us. This same God bore our sins on the cross. This same God is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
