The narrow path that leads unto life (Matthew 7:13,14) is a life that is yielded to the Lord Jesus. Webster tells us that to be yielded means “to surrender; to give way; not to oppose.”
God would never give us commands that we were unable to obey. The lie of the enemy is that it is impossible to live a yielded life. The truth of our heavenly Father is that we are born again of incorruptible seed (1 Peter 1:23). And as sure as we have experienced a human, earthly birth, those who have received Christ Jesus as Lord have been given a new birth (John 1:12, 13).
This new birth, that was spoken of by both Ezekiel (Ezekiel 36:26,27) and Jeremiah (Jeremiah 31:31-34), is the promise of a new heart, and is revealed to us in the New Testament as well (2 Corinthians 3:3).
Though we wrestle with the flesh and its desires to rule our lives, we have the power of God within us (1 Peter 1:5) that enables us to walk in holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:7).
May the Spirit of Truth allow us to understand and consistently apply this truth to our lives.
