Job 17:9 The righteous also shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.
Holding on to the ways of God is vital for spiritual strength. When we hold on to the ways of God, it is like adding weights to spiritual barbells. To cling to God’s truth when all that is within you and around you screams out “compromise” is the path to spiritual strength. The Psalmist declared in Psalm 84:7, 11: “They go from strength to strength, [every one of them] in Zion appeareth before God.” “For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good [thing] will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” Walking uprightly increases our strength against the tide of iniquity that surrounds us. God grants grace and glory to those who walk uprightly.
Proverbs 4:18 But the path of the just [is] as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
As we walk in The Spirit, not only does our strength increase, but the path of God for our lives becomes clearer and clearer. Perhaps you find yourself in a spiritual rut. A season of compromise. What can one do in such a case? Isaiah 1:16,18,19 tell us: “Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;” “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” “If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land.”
Turn to The Lord Who bids you to come. Look to the cross where your sin’s debt and sin’s power were defeated. Present yourself as a living sacrifice once again. The Father ran to the penitent prodigal. He will do the same for you, my friend.
