1 Peter 3.15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
Mark 16.15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Witnessing is not so much something you do as much as it is something you are. It is by living out our lives for the Lord Jesus Christ and His glory in this fallen world that we make an impact on the people that live in darkness.
It is common to hear Christians say that they went out witnessing today, and I know what they mean. Yes, we should be telling other about Jesus and sharing the gospel “as we are going” about our daily lives. Jesus commands us to do so! But we need to realize beloved that in reality, you and I are witnessing for Jesus Christ all the time without even saying a word.
Like the lamp in the house, you and I are engaged in the work of illuminating the truth of the gospel in order that through your life and lips, others may be drawn to Christ. We are called to see to it that our walk and talk are in harmony. We are not responsible for results. The greatest need for effective, bible-based evangelism today is not more methodology but for the body of Christ to live like genuine Christians.
Dear Pastor Ray,
1 Peter 3.15 is another AMAZING verse that captures God’s message to us with clarity, brevity, and completeness. My limited human intellect is revealed by my need to read these 35 words many times this morning, each time gaining in appreciation for its message. A good concordance helps but not at the expense of personal study and reflection. Looking at 1 Peter 3:15 again for my advantage:
“But SANCTIFY the LORD GOD in your HEARTS”
“and be READY ALWAYS to give an ANSWER”
“to EVERY MAN that asketh you”
“a REASON of the HOPE that is IN YOU”
“with MEEKNESS and FEAR.”
So much said using so few words. That is the Word.
God bless,
Jose
Amen and Amen!
