Matthew 24:29,30 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
There seems to be an over emphasis and preoccupation with things on the earth within the church today. Political and moral issues have gripped our attention and the blogs of many writers. Menaces like ISIS and other religious extremists have absorbed much of our attention. While we are not called to hide our proverbial head in the sand, it appears to me that in our efforts to address the current affairs from a biblical perspective (which IS important), the church as a whole has lost sight of the most important event yet to take place. The Risen, glorious, victorious, Lamb of God, Jesus Christ is coming back in power and great glory!
John writes from the isle of Patmos, Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
This is what we need to be telling people who are being swept away with either the fears or pleasures of this world. Daniel wrote, I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
In another place, John wrote, Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
This world is one day going to be visited again by The King of Kings, Jesus Christ. He is going to set up His kingdom on the earth. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
And who is Christ coming for? So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
He is coming for those that are looking for Him. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Those that love His appearing. Precious people of God, let’s not forget this glorious promise of Jesus, surely, I come quickly. Even so, come Lord Jesus!
