Acts 20.24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
In our last post we saw that Jesus Christ is the gospel. Today, we see that the ministry that the apostle Paul was given by Christ was to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
One of the most beautiful acronyms for grace I have ever heard is, God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense. Once again we see that all the grace extended towards us is because of Jesus Christ. When the truth of the gospel is planted in the depths of our souls, there is the ability to say at all times, but none of these things move me.
The sum total of our salvation is because of the grace of God. It was The Spirit of grace that drew us to Christ. It is His grace that saved us from our debt of sin. It is His grace that empowers us to walk in victory over sin. It is His grace that will usher us into our eternal dwelling place with Him. It is all because of Jesus, Who is full of grace of truth. As the old hymn says, Amazing grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. But once again, we must be quick to declare that this amazing grace is not just something, it is Someone. It is Jesus, a The Living Savior. This grace is a gift that cannot be bought. It cannot be earned. And it certainly is not deserved.
This wonderful grace through Jesus Christ has provided for us a blood-bought rest for our souls. Take rest, O weary soul, in the grace of Christ. His grace is higher and wider than the ever expanding universe that He created. This same grace will enable you to be unmovable today and give you joy.
