“Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him … and said, ‘Where is the LORD God of Elijah?’ And when he also had struck the water, it was divided …and Elisha crossed over.” 2nd Kings 2:14
Many people question the whereabouts of God as they experience trying moments in life. Because we do not always feel God’s presence in our lives we are prone to ask the Lord, “Where are You?” In times of distress other people may ask us, “Where is your God?” (Psalm 42:3) The unsaved world looks at the Church when things are rough and says, “Where is their God?” (Psalm 79:10)
The answer is that our God is in the heavens. However, Jesus also said that “where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matt 18:20) The God of Elijah is omnipresent; He is everywhere. He is a very present help in time of trouble. The God of Elijah is inescapable (Psalm 139:7-10)!
Jesus promised His disciples that He would be with them always. He will never leave nor forsake any of His children. He is our comfort when we are in trouble, our strength in weakness, our peace amidst life’s storms.
The God of Elijah is not hard to ‘find’ when your heart is His dwelling place. Is the God of Elijah your God?
