Psalm 121.1 [A Song of degrees.] “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help [cometh] from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”
Matt 6.34 “Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.”
John 16.33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Nobody can say that Jesus promised His people a life free of troubles. Your day today will have, to varying degrees, it’s own set of challenges. It may be a day that presents you with problems. According to Jesus, we can expect those things to happen. That there will be issues or problems in life for God’s redeemed sinners in a fallen world in one sense is no different than the life of one who is not redeemed. But here’s the difference: when the troubles, or difficulties come, we can look up to Jesus, Maker of heaven and earth and receive His help.
I am not saying that our lives as Christians are a series of trials without end. Thank The Lord for His favor and daily gifts of peace, righteous relationships and joy in The Holy Ghost. Life on earth is not perfect and we are not perfect. Our strength is limited. Our wisdom is limited. And even the love and grace that we need to dwell with family, friends and others is limited. So what does one do when he or she is overwhelmed with responsibilities, or “peopled out”, or ready to crawl back into bed a pull the covers over my head. Few of us even have that option. The office awaits you. The laundry is piling up. The deadline for that exam or school project is just around the corner. That difficult phone call or email needs to be sent. Here is what God says. Look to Me, and I will help you. He will give you the necessary resources to handle whatever challenges you are presented with today.
Do not hit the panic button. Do not allow your emotions to defeat you. Do not allow your mind to make the challenge bigger than your God. Look out your window. Look up at the heavens. The One Who created them and sustains them is working all of this out for your good for those who love Him and are the called according to His purpose.
