Rom 4.20 “He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”
We know that Abraham was a man of faith. But we know from the accounts of his telling the kings that his wife Sarah was his sister prove that he was not a man of perfect faith. Because of our unredeemed sinful flesh, nobody has perfect faith. But I suggest to you this morning beloved that we can have a standing faith. Due to our human tendencies to be overwhelmed by our circumstances or lack of resources, we tend to stagger, stumble and fall. Is that the kind of a walk God has planned for us to have? I do not believe so.
The victory that overcomes the world is our faith in Jesus Christ. The ability to stand against the wiles of the enemy is the armor of God. Like Abraham, the assurance that we can stand and not stagger are the promises of God. Beloved, 2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God in him [are] yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” That all things are working together for good is His promise dear ones. That God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory is His promise, saints. God said to the nation of Israel 1 Kings 8:56 “Blessed [be] the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.” Now our understanding of how these promises will be fulfilled may be vastly different than what God had in mind, because His ways are not our ways. Nevertheless, we can stand and not stagger today because our faith stands on the character of The God of promise.
Nothing can change the fact that we who are in Christ have eternal life. 1 John 2:25 “And this is the promise that he hath promised us, [even] eternal life.” Nothing can change that fact that if God be for you, who can be against you? Your area of weakness is where God pours out His strength. When you find yourself buckling under the pressure of life today, hang on to this unchanging, staggering busting promise, I am with you always. Beloved, Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you.
