Amos 5.8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning,and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The Lord is his name.
People have often worshiped the stars or believed they held power over our lives. The astrology charts and readings in the daily newspaper have avid followers. But it is God Almighty that has create them and rules them. He is The One that we are to seek. The Lord said to Job, Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion? Canst thou bring forth Mazzaroth in his season? or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons? Knowest thou the ordinances of heaven?
The answer, of course, is no, I can’t. But God can. God rules His Universe! The Genesis account of creation reads, And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
What a gracious and glorious Creator! God forbid the nation of Israel to make any image to represent Him lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them. Only God is to be served and worshipped. It is The Creator that telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite. Precious saints of The King, seek Him Who made the heavens and the earth. Seek Him Who loves you and died on the cross for your sin. Seek Him and His face for the strength and wisdom that you need today. Seek The Lord and His strength for ever more!
