Proverbs 15:32 He that refuses (ignores, neglects) instruction despises his own soul: but he that hears reproof gets understanding.
Over and over again we read in the Proverbs the value of being reproved and the warning and danger of refusing to be corrected. Rejecting instruction causes foolishness to stay bound up in the evil heart. The doer is bound to repeat his folly again and again. The only way that we know that we have heeded reproof is when there is the corresponding repentance and change of behavior in that area. It has been wisely said that a successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that are thrown at him. Every time someone throws a brick at you, realize there’s something true, something you can learn, something you can gain from that brick. Then build on it. Selah
