Ezra 4:4-6 Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building, And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
When Jesus said to Peter, “Get thee behind Me Satan; for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men” (Mark 8:33), He was letting us know that the devil will use anybody to try to hinder obedience to the work or call of God. God, through King Cyrus, commanded the remnant of the people of God to return to Jerusalem and build the temple. When they began the building project, the enemies of God moved in to stop the work. They sought to weaken or dishearten them. Trouble them. Frustrate them. And lastly, falsely accuse them of sinister motives in why they were doing what God called them to do.
Beloved, the devil uses the same strategy today when he wants to stop you from doing the will of God. He will raise up people, both inside and outside of the body of Christ, to weaken or dishearten you. He will raise up people to cause you trouble in doing the will of God. He will use anything and anybody he can to frustrate you. He will falsely accuse you of why you are doing what you are doing. Satan is a master of twisting information in such a way that will invalidate or impede the work of God from being done. Opposition to the work of The Lord is always the Devil’s work. Be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord today, beloved. If you were doing nothing for God, Satan would leave you alone. Selah
