The Corinthians had pledged to give an offering to the impoverished saints at Jerusalem. Yet, at the time Paul wrote his epistle, the saints had not yet collected any money for that offering. Good intentions are not the same as good deeds. James wrote that faith without works is dead. Our actions need to be an expression and outflow of our faith in and love of Jesus Christ.
