Deeply imbedded religious traditions are hard to break, and many of Jesus’ actions deviated from their man-made traditions. For example, fasting, which should be for the purpose of drawing closer to God, had been changed into a sign of one’s supposed spirituality. Jesus came to make all things like new again, restoring that which sin had destroyed.
