Nahum 1.7 The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.
Connect the dots, beloved. The Lord being good does not mean that we will escape trouble. God is good because He is God. Life is full of trouble because of sin. But, for those who trust in Christ as Lord, God is a stronghold in the day of trouble. It matters not what day that is, or when it is, Jesus Christ is our stronghold. That Hebrew word for stronghold means a place or means of safety, protection and refuge.
What a wonderful Savior Jesus is. Not only did He suffer for us on the cross, He continues to come alongside of us when we are suffering or in trouble. When we cry, He is there. Where we are in despair, He is there. When we are feeling all alone, He is there. A very present help in times of trouble.
For many people, this may be a time of great sadness. The loss of a loved one, or the loss of a marriage or the loss of health can be a cause of great consternation. But for the born again child of God, we have a Stronghold in our times of trouble, The Lord Jesus Christ. If you are one going through a difficult time this morning, take a step back. Jesus said He would never leave you nor forsake you. Embrace that promise, for it is true. I pray that your eyes would be opened to the reality of the presence of the unseen, but very present Jesus this morning. This Stronghold, is the God of all comfort. Trust Him beloved, trust Him. By faith touch the hem of His garment, and allow the power of His love fill your hurting soul.
