Hebrews 10.24-25 reads: And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Today is the day that we, the church, gather together to worship Our God, hear from His Word, and pour into others what The Lord has poured into us all week. The people who just ” go to church” miss the blessing that God promises for those who gather together in His Name. You see, in reality, the church goes to meet in building, thus we never really ” go to church”, for in reality, we are the church.
Here are a few things to ponder as you make your way to church today. Beloved church family, make it a point to set your heart and eyes on Christ today and bless Him in word and deed. When the worship begins, forget about others; adore Him and tell Him how much you love Him. Think about His great love and sacrifice for your sin as you lift your voice and hands unto Him. Pray for the pastor and all other teachers as the sermon is going forth. Ask The Holy Spirit to open hearts, comfort or convict as The Word is going forth. Pray for other churches in our community.
Consider the people around you. They are not there by accident, but by providence. Pray for them quietly, and then and ask God to open doors for you to minister to them in some way after the service or during the week with a call, email or visit. Exhort them in the things of The Lord.
Look for opportunities to serve The Lord in some way. Try to put yourself in the shoes of a visitor. Reach out to them and welcome them in The Name of Jesus. Take them around your facility and make them feel at home by helping them in any way you can. As you are leaving the premises, pray for those leaving along with you, and for those coming to the next service, if that is the case.
Follow up during the week with prayer for your church leadership, the various servants and your brothers and sisters in Christ.
Above all things, do everything that you do out of a deep love for Jesus Christ and the glory of His Father. Determine to be a blessing today beloved for the glory of God, and you will be blessed indeed!
