Exodus 3:3-5 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
Our God is a holy God, and the ground where Moses has an encounter with God is called holy ground. This is the same thing that happened when Joshua saw the Captain of The Lord’s host. “And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, ‘Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest [is] holy.’ And Joshua did so.” (Joshua 5:15)
Beloved, everything about our God is holy. His grace is holy. His joy is holy. His love is holy. His power is holy. And yes, His calling on your life is holy. The apostle Peter wrote, “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16) The absence of holiness in the life of the church has caused the church to be irrelevant in its call to reach the world for Christ.
Without holiness, no man will see The Lord (Hebrews 12:14). When Isaiah saw The Lord high and lifted up, he heard the three-fold proclamation, Holy! Holy! Holy! (Isaiah 1,3) Beloved, the Scripture calls us holy brethren, a holy nation (1 Thessalonians 5:27; 1 Peter 2:9). Wherever the presence of The Lord is, there will be holiness. Therefore beloved, sanctify The Lord in your heart, and walk in holy communion with Him today.
