Revelation 11.3-7 “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.”
This is the account given to John by The Holy Spirit regarding the two witnesses that God will raise up during the great tribulation period. This is the very height of Satan’s last roar and vengeance here on earth. What I would like you to meditate on dear ones is found in verse 7. The Word of God says that when they finished their testimony, then, and only then was the enemy able to take their lives and send them to glory. I call this, God’s Witness Protection Program.
There is no doubt that we are living in the perilous times that are heading in that direction. Wars and rumors of wars.Political and financial instability. There is the ebola virus scare along with a plethora of other ever-increasing medical concerns. There are the physical threats towards those who name the Name of Jesus Christ worldwide.
These are very real issues, and nothing to take lightly. However, it appears to me that more and more of God’s people are being paralyzed by the fear of these things and choosing to “play it safe” and have little or nothing to do with ministry or life itself that involves any kind of travel or large crowds. Now I am not advocating that we tempt God and deliberately place ourselves in danger, unless God has called us to be there, like the apostles and others throughout the history of the church who have died in service. But what I would like to suggest to you this morning saints is this. As long as we are not living in sin and are walking in the fear and counsel of God for our lives, like these two witnesses, I believe that we are “indestructible” until we finish our testimony here on earth and God calls us home.
Two of the most repeated words in Scripture are “fear not.” Whenever we read those words, they are being spoken to a person or a nation that have been gripped by fear instead of the plans and purposes of God for their lives. Fear just doesn’t disappear. We overcome fear by stepping out in faith in The One Who died for us and has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. So walk confidently today, beloved. Walk prayerfully and carefully. Never shrink back from being bold for Christ because of the ever-present threats and dangers in the world. You are under God’s Witness Protection Program. No matter what happens in this life, not one single hair on your head shall perish. Praise God!
Amen Pastor Ray, There is much talk these days about the end on the world. I think it’s an excellent opportunity to have a conversation about the assurance of salvation in Christ. It is a scary time, especially for Christians, but if our home is everlasting with the creator, what better reassurance can we have that we are loved? Looking forward to my eternal home- Raquel S.
