As we begin another year, we embark into uncharted and uncertain territory in the pursuit of the will of God. Face it, even though we belong to Jesus, we have no absolute certainty of what each new day will bring. Generally speaking, ‘there is nothing new under the sun.’ Jesus tells us that ‘sufficient for the day is its own trouble.’
However, in spite of the uncertainty on our part, there is no such thing in the plans of God. He has promised to instruct and guide us, provided that we walk by faith and not by sight.
Even though we do not know our future, we know that our times are in wonderful hands. By continuing in the truth of God, we will walk in freedom. Knowing that our faith will be tested, we must purpose to ‘put on the whole armor of God’ and ‘fight the good fight of faith.’
Press on, saints, and keep your eyes on Jesus. Walk in obedience and live in the expectancy of our Lord’s soon return.
We do not like uncertainty. Every square in the crossword puzzle must be filled, every cell of the spreadsheet must have a value. Fortunately, our lives and destiny are in His hands, not ours. Prayer guided by the word can seem to sometimes “buy us a vowel” as we try to solve life’s puzzles. Bankruptcies and rewards will occur, “The Lord giveth, and the Lord taketh away”. We rejoice during the “giveth” times and brood during the “taketh away” times, but as the all important last words of Job 1:21 remind us: “Blessed be the name of the Lord!”
We will never know His full will, but there is something that we do fully know. He loves us. He is righteous. Following Him, seeking His will, and trusting Him is our calling, our responsibility. All too often we try to “buy vowels” as in game shows, forgetting that it was He who bought us with a price.
Fortunately, there is no wheel of fortune guiding our lives. We are blessed that our loving God is omniscient and sovereign. We must diligently seek His will, but most importantly, trust in Him by faith.
May God bless you and your loved ones as 2016 draws to a close! In spite of the craziness of this world, let not our hearts be troubled, His will be done.
Love,
JoseM
