Malachi 3.16.17a “Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels.”
Let me ask you a couple of questions. What do you and I talk about the most? What do you and I think, or meditate upon the most? Note in our passages of sacred Scripture today that God has a book of remembrance that is made up of people who regularly talk about Him and think about Him. Would you also observe beloved that people who regularly talk about The Lord and think about Him are those who fear Him.
Thus, contrary to popular opinion of the fruit of fearing God is not unholy mental terror and absolute silence in talking about Him. The fruit of a proper, reverent fear of God is that you will talk to others about The Lord and have sweet thoughts about the character of God. You no doubt have noticed that The Lord Himself hears when He is talked about and knows whenever we think about Him. But also note that it is those same individuals whom God declares to be My jewels. Imagine being in Jesus’ jewelry box. Imagine being treasured by Jesus. It is not a far fetched concept, reserved for only a few of God’s people.
This desire to talk about Jesus and think about Him is the overflow of a daily, growing relationship and fellowship with Him. There are no short cuts to this kind of relationship with Jesus. Keep your fellowship with Jesus simple. Cultivate your prayer life throughout your day as you meet challenges and needs. Read and memorize Scripture, not out of duty, but out of love.
The result of cultivating your intimacy with Jesus is that you will talk to others and one another often about Him, and think upon His Name. And know this beloved. As your life is an overflow of talking about Him and thinking about Him, your Father in heaven is listening and your name is in His book of remembrance.
