1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy.
The Living God and His blessings are meant to be enjoyed. For some reason, there are people who think that to enjoy a good meal or a beautiful song or a time of laughter with dear friends is carnal and to be shunned. Not so, beloved. God gives us richly, not poorly, all things to enjoy.
Of course it should be understood that sinful pleasures are not to be enjoyed. Moses chose rather “to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.” (Hebrews 11:24-26)
But the reason why many saints are being robbed of the enjoyment that God in His providence has given to them is because of poor theology. Face it; life can be hard and filled with stress, sorrow, and disappointment. The gospel is not that God gives us heaven on earth. Heaven and all of its splendor and glory await us. But in the midst of the present sorrows and sufferings, God gives us richly all things to enjoy.
“And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.” (Ecclesiastes 3:13) “Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labour that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which God giveth him: for it is his portion.” (Ecclesiastes 5:18)
To enjoy God and His blessings is to be taken literally and seriously! Selah
