Romans 1:31 Without understanding, covenant breakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Fallen man is born into this world with diseased or misplaced affections. This moral malady is prevalent in our society. Babies are being murdered in the womb by the millions because there is no natural affection. Despicable displays of base immorality are now called entertainment because there is no natural affection. Society has become calloused by these acts of depravity. What God calls evil is now called good. A “cat scan” of humanity in the last days is described this way in 2 Timothy 3:3: “Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good”. What every child of God needs to constantly keep in mind is that we are susceptible to these diseased affections that bombard us 24 hours of every day.
Thus, we are exhorted in Colossians 3:2 to: “Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” And in Colossians 3:5: “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry”.
May the grace of The Lord Jesus Christ help us to set our affections on things above! Look up, your redemption draweth near.
