Mark 1.1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The word gospel means “good news.” Hallelujah for the good news. Mark informs us that Jesus Christ, the Son of God IS the gospel. Not only has Jesus Christ brought us the good news of salvation. Jesus Christ is our salvation. The prophet Isaiah wrote,”Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.” The English word translated “salvation” is yeshuwah, which also means deliverance and help.
While fallen man is the beneficiary of the salvation that is wrought by Jesus Christ. We must never allow the benefits of Christ’s sacrifice eclipse the majesty of Who He is. Luke writes that the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Oh beloved, The Savior, Christ Jesus The Lord has come. He is the good news! He is the source of great joy! The Lord Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us. Jesus, The good news incarnate is with you this morning beloved. He will be with you throughout your day.
May the truth, power and good news of Jesus Christ strengthen you today and give you peace. Remember fellow believer, the gospel is not merely something, it is Someone, and His Name is Jesus!
Amen!
