Luke 24. 32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
As Jesus expounded the Scriptures to these men, their hearts were set on fire. After our eyes are opened by The Spirit of God, we come to realize that the Word of God is indeed the bread from above for our souls!
Jeremiah 15.16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
Job 23.12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
One time the prophet Jeremiah was so upset with his situation. He was imprisoned. People were not hearing what God told him to tell them. He was about to hand in his 2 weeks notice as prophet; but he couldn’t. Do you know why?
Jer 20.9 Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.
May this glorious gospel message of Christ’s death on the cross for our sin and victory over the grave burn within each and every one of our hearts this morning a clearer understanding of the grace of God that brings salvation along with a fresh desire to seek His face even more than ever!
