Psalm 119.1,2 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.
Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
The blessed person is the person who chooses to walk in the ways of The Lord. They seek Him with their whole heart. Oh precious child of God, may that be said of both writer and reader alike. May it be our sincere desire to walk in the revealed will of God. May it be our sincere desire to order our conduct and conversation aright today.
Following Jesus in a fallen world is not as easy as it seems. According to Galatians 5, we are a walking civil war. The flesh and Spirit opposing one another. Thus, we find ourselves in this constant state of choosing to please one or the other.
But in our passages this morning we are presented with God’s good, perfect and acceptable will for His children. And that is that we, as James tells us, receive the engrafted word in our hearts. This means to read it. Embrace it. Ask the Holy Spirit to cause us to see and understand what it says and how to apply it to my life.
The blessed life is the yielded life. A life that has dropped its arms of warfare and rebellion against The Almighty. A life that has set the “GPS” of its soul to “Thus saith The Lord.” God is not looking for perfection, but He is looking for sincerity. Paul ended his epistle to the Ephesians this way. Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.
There is the mysterious key to it all, dear ones. God gives grace to those who are sincerely seeking Christ. Thus, when we find ourselves walking in the ways of The Lord, we realize that it is not I but the infusion of the grace of God that empowers me to do so. Thus, it is because of the grace of God through Jesus Christ that my life is a blessed one. His grace has redeemed me, and His grace has placed within me a sincere desire to know Him and follow Him.
