Psalm 46:10,11 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
We live on a very noisy planet. We are constantly being bombarded with information and voices from every direction. Billboards. Facebook and Twitter. Emails and texting. Voicemail. Had enough? Add to that normal, day to day responsibilities of family demands, vocational demands, not to mention that we are sinners with a flesh nature that is being pounded with an onslaught of the world’s pleasures and delicacies. Stop this bus and let me off! Short but sweet devotional today from the life of Martha:
Luke 10:38-42 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
Sit at The Master’s feet this morning. Shut down and shut off everything else. Listen to the One and Only Voice that matters. Be still, and know that Jesus is with you. He is our peace and strength.
