Just as Joseph was not known and accepted by His brothers until the second time they saw him in Egypt, Jesus Christ will not be recognized and accepted as Messiah by the nation of Israel as a whole until His Second Coming. Scripture is filled with prophecies concerning this event, and the ‘scenario’ leading up to it. (See Matt 24:3-27, for example.)
After the church is raptured the prophetic time clock concerning the Jewish people and the nation of Israel will continue. This last seven year period, the ‘70th week of Daniel’, begins with 144,000 of Jesus’ brothers being sealed by the angels of God. For a prophetic biopsy of this historic ‘week’ read Revelation, chapters 6-18.
Jesus Himself spelled out the things that will take place upon this earth in the last days. Sound contemporary? Coincidence? Do you think that with all of the recent ‘End Times’ movies, even the god of this world is getting a bit edgy?
Peter very candidly proposes a practical question about how we should be living in light of these things soon to take place in a neighborhood near you! Oh, in spite of what the skeptics or critics say, Jesus is coming soon, in like manner when He ascended up to heaven. It will be a most glorious day when heaven opens and Jesus returns, displaying His title as ‘King of Kings and Lord of Lords’!
Do you know what time it is? Tomorrow may be too late. ‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the LORD. ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool’.
