In his first epistle, Peter had an exhortation for elders. In the Church, an elder is not necessarily an elderly person in age, but he is a spiritually mature person, who has a true relationship with Jesus Christ. The Lord raises up such people to oversee the spiritual and practical affairs within the local church.
