In His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus did not forbid the legitimate use of oaths in formal settings such as marriage vows or legal proceedings. Jesus simply expressed the need for honesty and truthfulness in all of our conversations. That is, when you say, “Yes,” mean it! When you say, “No,” meant it! Please open your Bible to Matthew chapter five, and listen as Pastor Ray Viola begins his discussion of Jesus’ words in verses thirty-three through thirty-seven.
