Job’s spirit was broken; he couldn’t take any more abuse. Just as Job had expressed his hope in a mediator, today we will see that he also desired an advocate or guarantor for his debts. For Christians, Jesus serves both functions: He is the High Priest of His people, and, by the oath of the Lord, He is their advocate and surety. Please open your Bible to Job chapter seventeen, and listen as Pastor Ray Viola completes his discussion of Job’s response to Eliphaz.
