Elihu’s critics call him harsh and unfeeling, but this viewpoint comes from a human-centered preoccupation with self. We might do better to see Elihu as one who passionately cares for God’s honor. To him, anything that impugns God’s honor is a terrible thing that eclipses any human suffering. Perhaps this is why many find it so hard to accept Elihu’s concerns and arguments. Please open your Bible to Job chapter thirty-three, verse nineteen, and listen as Pastor Ray Viola discusses Elihu’s defense of God’s honor.
