2 Corinthians 11:3,4 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Solomon said in Ecclesiastes that there is nothing new under the sun (1:9). From the Garden of Eden to the present hour, the biblical truth of God regarding Jesus Christ and the gospel has been redefined, twisted, or simply called outrageous. The apostle John tells us that the spirit of this fallen world system is called antichrist (1 John 4:3). The prefix anti means both replacement of or in opposition to. Satan has his own “evangelists” who proclaim a counterfeit Jesus and a counterfeit gospel under the inspiration of a demonic spirit who transforms himself into an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14).

This seducing spirit has an outward appearance of godliness coming in the form of legalism or mysticism. These religious frauds and systems proclaim a Jesus and a gospel that is foreign to that which is found in Scripture. Oh the Name of Jesus and the word gospel may be spelled the same and sound right on, but when you peel away the external layer of orthodoxy, you discover a Jesus and a gospel that is a damnable heresy which is all together false.

Satan deceived Eve in the Garden by asking the question, “hath God said” (Genesis 3:1), after which he added his sinister twist. Satan continues to deceive mankind by twisting Scripture to say what it doesn’t say, and mean what it doesn’t mean. Beware of those who come to you with a Jesus or a gospel that is foreign to what is revealed to us in Scripture. Be a Berean, beloved (Acts 17:10,11). Selah.
