Philippians 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

To be sincere and without offence is another way of saying that we should seek to live our lives in such a way that Our Lord Jesus Christ will be glorified. As followers of Jesus we need to realize that we are the Body of Christ. We are His mouth, His hands, His ears, and His feet. What do people hear when they listen to you talk? What do people see when they watch you work? What do your ears listen to? Where do your feet take you?

We are called to be witnesses for Jesus in every single area of our lives. We are the salt of the earth; a city set upon a hill. A man or woman after God’s own heart will behave themselves wisely in all of their ways. They live with a sense of the presence of Jesus. They treasure their fellowship with Jesus and they realize that they are on public display for Jesus. “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.” (Acts 24:16) “Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:” (1 Corinthians 10:32)

Our lives are to send a clear, not cloudy message that Jesus Christ is Lord. Sincere means that I am completely honest with myself and The Lord. I am making a real effort to apply the truth of God’s Word to my life. I am not putting on a show. I am not one way at church and another way at home. It means that I desire to have Jesus establish His lordship in every area of my life. How far do you take that? Do you eat? Do you drink? “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)

As we grow in Jesus, our lives are to become stepping-stones for others to grow in Christ or come to Christ, not stumbling-stones. Being sincere and without offence is being like Jesus, uncompromising in His submission to His Father.
