Exodus 23:22 But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.

As we walk in obedience to God’s revelation of truth, we have the promise that He will be an enemy to our enemies, and an adversary to our adversaries. What a precious promise. This is not to mean that we will never experience persecution or opposition, for Scripture does not teach that, it means that as we walk in submission to The Lord, Our Great Shepherd’s “got our back.” Because we are children of light in a world that loves darkness, we will never be free of opposition. The Psalmist declared, “they also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.” Rather than lash out in anger, our response to opposition is to be godly and loving. “For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer.”

As we step out in faith today and seek to share God’s Word to others in The Name of Jesus today, we have the promise of Jesus that I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist. They may disagree. They may object. But they will never prevail, because God’s Word is forever settled in the heavens. Because of the weakness of our flesh and our propensity to retreat in fear, rather than speak the truth in love, we are in continual need of God’s grace and strength for courage to be faithful in the battle. And God grants us that courage to speak the truth in love in the Person of The Holy Ghost. Fear is an enemy in and of itself, but God says to us that in nothing are we to be terrified by your adversaries.

for God says that He will be our defense. So, our strongest offensive weapon in evangelism is personal obedience to the Word of God. He promises to provide the wisdom and courage that we need. Be bold for Jesus when the opportunity arises to testify of His truth. He’s got you covered!
