Deut 30.19,20 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave to him (for he is thy life, and the length of thy days).

These are portions of the words of Moses to the nation of Israel prior to their entering into the promised land. Note the words “choose life”. Also note that to choose life means the choice to love The Lord thy God and obey His voice. It is a choice to cling to Him, because He is thy life. Ever since the fall of man in the garden of Eden, there have only been two paths for mankind to choose from. The path of life and the path of death. Many people try very hard to convince themselves and others that there is some kind of a neutral path that we can choose. Not so, beloved.

The first Psalm brings out this point regarding these two paths. Blessed [is] the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight [is] in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. ”

Again we see there is the path of the godly, and the path of the ungodly. Jesus Himself said, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Oh take heed dear ones, few there be that find this narrow path. Thus, very few people are on that path.

That path of course is following Jesus Christ, for He IS “the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” This path is a path of faith. To choose Jesus is to choose life. Reader, are you on the path of life today? Repent of your sin, and turn to Jesus for forgiveness of sin. Only Jesus can give you a new heart, and a new life and put you on the path of life and keep you there.
