When Solomon completed his prayer of dedication for the Temple, God sent fire from heaven to consume the burnt offering and sacrifices as a vivid and visible proof of His approval. Note that the fire of God came down on the sinless sacrifice, not the sinful people. This beautifully foreshadows the once-and-for-all pleasing sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, for our sins.
